Officiating crew assignments for the 2022 USFL Championship Game
The USFL championship game crew is announced.
The USFL has played 10 weeks of regular-season games from a home base in Birmingham, Ala. After a 2-game playoff from Canton, Ohio, last week, the fourth USFL championship (and first in 37 years) kicks off between the Philadelphia Stars and Birmingham Stallions on Sunday. The game will be played at Tom Benson Stadium on the campus of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Throughout the season, the single-venue setup allowed the league to assign every crew to work a weekend doubleheader. (One crew was scheduled to work a day/night split in the same day in Week 1, however a weather delay wound up moving those to separate days.) For the postseason, its one assignment only.
The USFL assigns the entire crew, as opposed to the mixed crew assignments employed by the NFL. And speaking of the NFL, referee Alex Moore’s next assignment will be in the NFL as umpire. He and two others from his crew were hired by the NFL in May.
