2024-25 bowl officiating assignments
Officiating crew conference assignments for the 2024-25 bowl games.
Football Zebras has obtained the officiating assignments to the 2024-25 bowl games.
Each conference has its own criteria for determining the officials assigned to a bowl game. In some cases, a conference will consider its championship game to be equivalent to a bowl assignment, and not give those officials another postseason game.
Bowls are distributed to the conferences in a manner than an officiating crew is not from one of the participating team’s conferences. The Power conferences work at least 5 bowls each (including all playoff games). The Group of 5 conferences work 3 bowls each.
The College Football Playoff games will be assigned to the four Power conferences, according to sources with knowledge of the process. Eight crews will be assigned to the First Round playoffs and the Quarterfinals, according to a preseason memo from National coordinator of officiating Steve Shaw:
New for this year will be that advancement to the Semifinal games and the National Championship Game will be based on crew performance from the first eight CFP games and avoiding conflict – all subject to approval of the CFP.
This will mirror the playoff assignment principles that we have followed in FCS where we assign the first two rounds of games and then advancement is based on performance with the avoidance of conflict. That process has worked well, and I look forward to implementing this process for the CFP.
In the listings below, all times are Eastern. The following symbols are placed next to the names of the officials, and the criteria for those symbols is listed at the bottom of the post. RO is the replay official and CO is the replay communicator.

Symbol criteria
The following criteria apply to the participation symbols shown above:
Officials that were assigned alternates from last year’s bowls are not marked with a star.
The Mackie Development Program run by the NFL is a development program which the league uses as a hiring pool. Officials will attend meetings and shadow NFL officials during OTAs, training camps, and preseason games. The MDP also assigns officials to college invitational all-star games — Hula Bowl, Senior Bowl, Shrine Bowl, and the Legacy Bowl — for evaluation purposes. Officials marked above must have been in the preseason program or worked a college invitational game in the last 3 years. The NFL did not provide a list for 2023 or 2024 development officials, as they have in previous years, so we used the best available information. Keep in mind that some officials may no longer be in the program, but their departures are not communicated.
The rosters of the spring pro leagues for the the USFL 2022-23, the XFL 2023, and the UFL 2024 seasons are included, but officials who only worked the 2020 XFL are not included as of this year.
Conference championship assignments are indicated for non-alternate officials at the end of the 2024 season.

Found a typo.
The Bs name in the “New Orleans Bowl” is “Kurt Dingmann”.

Can somebody please explain what each of the letters means on the back of the referee’s uniforms? I have not been able to find this anywhere on the internet – one that includes “C”. If you can find it, please provide a link. Thank you.
