SEC officiating crew assigned to the National Championship
This year’s crew also worked the Fiesta Bowl

The expanded playoffs have lead to a level-up assignment procedure for the Semifinal and National Championship games. After the first eight games were played, the crews for the final three games were determined.
All playoff games in the bowl subdivision are officiated by Power conference crews — ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC. All crew assignments are made in coordination with the College Football Playoff administration.
The Semifinal crews were announced last week, but the Championship crew was not. The assignment would go to one of the higher ranked playoff crews, but a crew could not work a game with a team from the same conference.
This leaves the SEC as the odd conference out, as the ACC and Big 12 worked the semifinal round and the Ohio State Buckeyes locked out a Big Ten crew from working. The SEC has never sent an officiating crew to the National Championship since the dawn of the CFP era in 2015; all other Power conference officials, including the Pac-12, have been assigned at least twice.
The SEC crew, with the exception of the alternate official, is the same crew that worked the Fiesta Bowl.

First time an SEC crew has officiated a CFP championship game, and the first time for the SEC officiating any championship game since the Orange Bowl following the 2004 season.
The ACC was also ineligible to officiate the championship game with Notre Dame playing. As part of their contract with the conference, the Fighting Irish must use ACC officials to call its games against conference teams, whether it be in South Bend or an ACC stadium. Additionally, ACC officials call Notre Dame road games vs. non-ACC teams (this year vs. Navy and USC).

I’m new to this. What do the symbols to the right of the Officials names mean?

Yep, for obvious reasons, SEC has not done the championship. Closest that I remember was Ken Williamson having the Clemson v Ohio State semi-final that I believe was the year LSU and Joe Burrow won it. He had those two replay calls and both went Clemson’s way. Drove OSU fans crazy.
