UFL kicks off Season 2 with these officials
The UFL begins its second season after the merger of the USFL and XFL with a Friday night kickoff game.
Four teams from each league were placed in two conferences. In the USFL Conference, there are the Birmingham Stallions, Houston Roughnecks, Memphis Showboats, and Michigan Panthers. In the XFL Conference are the Arlington Renegades, D.C. Defenders, San Antonio Brahmas, and St. Louis Battlehawks.
There are 52 officials from the FBS level in college and 4 from the NFL. Each game site has a dedicated replay official and a game supervisor is appointed to each game.
The kickoff game will be helmed by Kole Knueppel, a four-timer in spring leagues, but his first season at the referee position. Sunday’s doubleheader has Adam Savoie, whose crew worked last year’s UFL championship game, and Mike VanderVelde who was the referee for the 2023 XFL Championship Game.
